World Elephant Day

Gondwana Game Reserve has rewilded elephants into a Fynbos biome. Today, in celebration of World Elephant Day, we support global efforts to raise elephant awareness for the preservation of this magnificent species.

The Gondwana Conservation Foundation (GCF) together with WEI (Wildlife Ecological Investments) have dedicated teams studying and monitoring Gondwana’s elephants in order to learn more about how they co-exist in our critically endangered Fynbos Biome. The research to date shows that elephants can live in a fynbos environment and add to the biodiversity of the landscape. That contribution is of great biological importance.

These mega herbivores play an important part in the ecology of our region. Gondwana and its expert field guides are dedicated to sharing magnificent elephant experiences with guests that visit Gondwana.
