Situated in the heart of the Garden Route, Gondwana Game Reserve offers an exclusive and spectacular natural setting with numerous nature activities on offer in the reserve, as well as nearby Garden Route activities.

Game Drives

Game drives are conducted in open game viewers with expert field guides who reveal the free roaming Big5 in a Cape floral setting – A once in a lifetime experience!

The Junior Ranger Programme

The Junior Ranger Programme is complimentary for all children staying with 2 paying adults on a full or half board package.

The program includes educational family game drives, interactive activities with a dedicated Junior Ranger Field Guide such as fishing and tracking, as well as a fun Ranger’s backpack and cool custom safari booklet to fill in throughout their stay.

Tented Bush Spa

Revitalize Yourself with Natures touch, tone and Tempo

Enjoy a relaxing and indulgent Spa treatment in Safari style at Gondwana’s Tented Bush Spa.

Gondwana’s Spa offers a full treatment menu utilizing the luxurious Africology product range which makes use of South Africa’s indigenous plants. Treatments can be in the double volume treatment room or open air for a truly “au natural” experience. 

Family Mountain Biking Experience

Gondwana boasts 4 demarcated mountain bike trails through its 1000 ha protected area where guests can enjoy game viewing of endangered species while breaking a sweat in the saddle.

These routes are graded from novice to advanced, and have been designed for all levels of fitness to enjoy. The routes consist of varied terrain from dirt roads and jeep tracks to long valley descentand steep technical climbs. 

Daily Fynbos Walking Experience

With the richest floral kingdom in the world and the recent discovery of the largest known population of a rare orchid thought to be extinct, Gondwana Game Reserve is a bucket list destination not just for a Big 5 safari, but also for anyone with an interest in botany and biodiversity.

This hands-on experience will give guests a chance to learn about the conservation of the rare and endangered Fynbos biome, affording them the opportunity to get a more up-close understanding of the stunning indigenous flora and fauna on foot.

Wattle Warriors Conservation Experience

Volunteer an hour of your time to help remove invasive Black Wattle trees from the Reserve.

Get out in nature on foot and give back! The activity runs every morning after breakfast from Reception.

Birding

For the avid birdwatcher, there is no other area in Africa like the Western Cape that offers such a high level of endemism in such an accessible setting. The province is well known among international and local birders alike for the remarkable array of birds that is found here and nowhere else in the world: a staggering 42 of South Africa’s 53 endemic bird species occur in the Western Cape.

Garden Route Attractions

World-class tourist facilities and attractions on Gondwana’s doorstep include championship golf courses at Pinnacle Point, Pezula, Oubaai and Fancourt, great swimming and surfing beaches and the attractive coastal towns of Mossel Bay, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. This particular South African game reserve is located 30 minutes outside of Mossel Bay on the Indian Ocean with top amenities such as beautiful beaches, top seaside golf courses, deep seas fishing, Shark cage diving and private hospitals and restaurants. The Garden Route is known as the Garden of Eden; the area is one of the most visually spectacular tourism destinations in the world with mountains and ocean wherever you look.
