What to pack
Dress in layers in bush colours. Khaki, brown and beige. Southern Cape mornings are cool on an open vehicle even in summer, so bring a warm jacket. By the middle of the day you may be in shirtsleeves. Pack for that swing.
Essentials
A wide brim hat or cap
A beanie for cool mornings
Neutral safari coloured tops and bottoms, short sleeve and long sleeve shirts, trousers, jeans and shorts
A fleece or puffer jacket
A windproof outer layer
Walking shoes and a pair of flip flops
Insect repellent
Sunscreen
A swimsuit
Binoculars
A camera
A travel adaptor and chargers
A light raincoat for showers that pass through in any month
Through the colder months
From May to September add light gloves with the beanie. A scarf or buff helps with dust and cold on the vehicle. Soft layers beat one heavy coat.
Good to know
The reserve is malaria free. No antimalarials are needed for Gondwana Game Reserve itself. If your trip includes other regions, check with your doctor.
Your suite or villa has laundry and hairdryers, so pack lighter than you think. If you forget something, ask. The lodge shop carries hats, sunscreen, binoculars and the small things.
A conservation fee applies once per stay and is set out with every quote.
