Gondwana is a distinctive Western Cape game reserve located in the picturesque Garden Route, offering a diverse selection of Safari Lodge accommodation, from romantic private suites, private villas and tented camps.

Kwena Suites

Discover tranquillity at Kwena Lodge, where 14 private bedroom suites await you. Each suite provides breath-taking views of two waterholes and a majestic mountain landscape. Unwind in the bedroom lounge area featuring a warm wood-burning fireplace. The spacious bathrooms boast a deep bath with a picturesque window, double sinks, a refreshing rain shower, and a separate toilet. Outside, shaded deck areas with comfortable seating and a romantic double pool lounger invite you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty that surrounds you.

  • Gondwana’s Child-friendly Lodge – Lehele Lodge is currently closed and undergoing maintenance. Families with children will be making use of Kwena Lodge facilities temporarily until Lehele Lodge reopens on June 14, 2024.

Conservation Fees

Kwena Villas

In addition to the main Lodge, Kwena Lodge offers seven exclusive villas. Nestled adjacent to the Lodge, each villa ensures absolute privacy and ample space for families and groups of friends. These three and four-bedroom villas boast an open-plan design, seamlessly integrating a lounge, kitchen, and dining area. The highlight is the expansive wraparound deck, providing breath-taking views of the valley and mountains.

  • Gondwana’s Child-friendly Lodge – Lehele Lodge is currently closed and undergoing maintenance. Our families with children staying at Kwena Villas and Lehele Villas will be making use of Kwena Lodge facilities temporarily until Lehele Lodge reopens on June 14, 2024.
  • Please note, from June 14, 2024, families with children under 12 will be accommodated in our Lehele villas and will make use of our child-friendly Lehele Lodge for their comfort and convenience.
  • Starting from June 14, 2024, for any new reservations, the Kwena Villas will exclusively cater to children above the age of 12.
  • We will naturally honour all existing bookings with under 12-year-olds at Kwena Villas.
  • For new bookings with children under 12 years old, we kindly recommend you book your family safari stay at Gondwana’s child-friendly Lehele villas.

Lehele Villas

Gondwana’s Lehele Villas provide a child friendly, home-like haven, perfect for families seeking comfort and tranquillity while on safari. Nestled in a remote location, these villas ensure complete privacy, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the stunning Cape Fynbos environment and observe passing wildlife. Each villa, boasting three to four ensuite bedrooms, offers spacious interiors characterized by double-volume lounge and dining areas complemented by wood-burning fireplaces. The seamless flow from these areas opens onto a charming wraparound deck, revealing breath-taking views of the valley and mountains beyond.

Important Information

  • Lehele Lodge which services Lehele Villas is currently closed and undergoing maintenance. Lehele Lodge will re-open on June 14, 2024.
  • Our families with children staying at Lehele Villas will be making use of Kwena Lodge facilities temporarily until Lehele Lodge reopens on June 14, 2024.
  • Until June 14, 2024, Guests self drive from Kwena Lodge to their Lehele Villa and back for meals, game drives and activities.
  • The Lehele Villas are located about 10.5km from Kwena Lodge with a 15-30 minute driving time along a scenic drive through Gondwana’s Big5 Reserve. Transfers to and from Kwena Lodge are bookable at reception and charged at R200 per person per way.
  • From June 14, 2024, Lehele Lodge will re-open and guests will once again self drive from Lehele Lodge to their Lehele Villa and back for meals, game drives and activities.

Children Staying at Lehele Villas

  • Please note families with children under 12 are accommodated in our Lehele villas for their comfort and convenience.
  • Children under the age of 6 years stay for free until May 1, 2024.
  • As of May 1, 2024 children age 0-2.9 stay for free, children age 3-5.9 stay for 30% of adult rate, and children age 6-12 stay for 50% of adult rate.
  • As of June 14, 2024 children staying at our child friendly Lehele villas are welcome to join Game Drives with other families departing from Lehele Lodge.

Ulubisi House

Exuding both style and refreshing simplicity, Ulubisi House offers an ideal setting for rekindling connections with friends and family while embarking on an authentic Cape safari adventure. Nestled within a 1000-hectare protected area dedicated to endangered species, Ulubisi House accommodates either 6 adults or 4 adults and 4 children. The lodge is complete with dedicated staff, featuring a butler, chef, and field guide, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for all.
