Lehele Lodge is a comfortable child-friendly lodge catering to families with a focus on creating an enchanting safari experience for children through activities like game drives and Gondwana’s popular Junior Ranger Programme. We believe the safari experience isn’t just about spotting animals; it’s about forging unforgettable family memories.

With its cool organic style and warm African flavours, the centrally located Lehele Lodge is a spectacular location to take in the magnificent Cape landscape. The Lodge comprises of interconnected dining, reception, lounge and bar areas, all leading out to expansive outdoor decks overlooking the Reserve and a large waterhole in Lehele Valley with a dramatic mountain backdrop. Families staying at Lehele Lodge are accommodated in Gondwana’s the remotely situated Lehele Villas.

Lehele Lodge is a Self-drive Getaway

Full Board Guests self-drive to Lehele Lodge, or opt for rates that include onsite transfers to Lehele Lodge, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and game drives on roads suitable for 2×4 vehicles. Lehele Family Villas are located about 10km from Lodge with a 15-30 minute driving time along a scenic drive through Gondwana’s Big5 Reserve. 

Child Policy

Children (3-12 years) staying at our child-friendly Lehele Lodge are welcome to join Game Drives. Infants under 2 years of age are not allowed on game drives. Children are welcome from their second birthday.

  • Children between the age of 3 and 5.99 stay for 30% of adult rate (game drives included).
  • Children ages 6 to 11.99 years of age pay 50% of full adult rate regardless of whether they stay in their parent’s room or occupy another room in the Villa (game drives included)
  • Children ages 12 and older are regarded as adults and pay 100% of adult rates.
  • Children under 12 years of age welcome at Lehele Lodge, and are accommodated in Lehele Family Villas.
  • Unfortunately Kwena Lodge and Kwena Lodge Villas will not accept children under 12.
  • Children ages 0-2.9 stay for free but are not allowed on game drives. As an alternative, we offer pre-booked babysitting services (see details below) or a pre-booked Bokkie drive (non-predator sightings game drive). One adult must accompany the children on the Bokkie Drive at all times. Private game drives may also be booked at an additional cost, subject to availability, 7 days prior to arrival.

With its ample outdoor seating, Lehele Lodge is the ultimate watering hole for a sundowner after an exhilarating game drive.

The conservation fee of R500 for each adult and R250 for each child, once for your stay, is added to your bill and goes directly to the reserve.

  • Guests staying in Lehele Family Villas self drive from Lehele Lodge to their Villa and back for meals, game drives and activities. Alternatively Guests can opt to book rates that include onsite transfers to and from Lehele Lodge.
  • The Lehele Family Villas are located about from 15-30 minute driving time from Lehele Lodge along a scenic drive through Gondwana’s Big5 Reserve.
