Guided fynbos walk
Two hours on foot, with your field guide, in the part of the reserve we keep for its rarest residents.
The drive is short and the last gate is the point. Beyond it lies 1000 hectares where the dangerous game cannot follow and you leave the vehicle behind. Fynbos comes up to meet you at knee height. Protea, erica, restio, buchu that you smell before you see. Your Gondwana guide reads it as you go, the flowers that only open here, the tracks in the sand from the night before and somewhere ahead the animals this ground was set aside for. Bontebok hold this Protected Area. On a good morning, eland, giraffe and sable standing in the open, watching you back.
You leave reception at eleven and are home in time for lunch. Bring walking shoes and a hat. Four is the smallest group we take out and children are welcome from six. Ask reservations or reception to hold you a morning.
