Cheetah Cub’s First Run at Ashia!

A delightful update from Ashia Cheetah Centre, wonderful to see these youngsters thriving and running! This video clip above was their very first run with the Lure.

“The cubs have been showing a very positive reaction to the fitness runs, they instantly took to it and instinctively chased the lure. They’ve continued to do so and (the females especially!) are excellent runners.

They also get a lot of stimulation and additional enrichment in moving to the running area – as soon as they enter, they start sniffing and taking in all the previous cheetah scents and communications left behind!

The running has really benefitted their health – aiding digestion and providing some of the exercise that they need.”

Above the latest video of the cubs chasing the lure, looking very
excited and alert.
Below is a post run video, the cubs looking very relaxed and satisfied.

With the population of cheetah being around 7000 left in the wild, we are thankful that these 3 cubs have survived and are well on their way to being rewilded in the next few years.
